About Sheila J. Levine
SHEILA J. LEVINE is a practicing attorney for 30 years in New York City, representing published, self-publishing and non-agented authors, literary agents and publishers. Sheila is a member of the New York State Bar. She has an MBA from New York University and J.D from Fordham Law School. She began her publishing career in Subsidiary Rights at Doubleday and then became Contracts and Copyright Manager at Popular Library, a paperback imprint owned by CBS. She has had her own practice in publishing and intellectual property law for over twenty years, representing authors, literary agents, and publishers. She specializes in preparing, analyzing and negotiating contracts, reviewing manuscripts for defamation and privacy, advising on copyright and trademark matters, and counseling on a diverse range of publishing and intellectual property law and business issues.
Sheila is the Referring Counsel for the
International Women’s Writing Guild and has led workshops at Guild Conferences in “Legal Pitfalls for Authors.”
Sheila is also co-founder of “Writers, Readers and Publishers,” a monthly Special Interest Group at the Princeton Club of New York. Speakers are insiders from the publishing industry including literary agents, writers, editors and consultants.
